To receive standard Mississippi certification a person must (1) have a valid standard teaching certificate in another state, (2) have or earn a passing score on the NTE (This must be earned before another certificate will be issued.), and (3) have three (3) or more years of successful experience that can be verified at the level for which a Mississippi certificate is sought.

Individuals who fail to meet number three (3) stated above will be issued a provisional Mississippi certificate provided they meet both numbers one (1) and two (2) stated above.
