Assistant Professor of Animal Science-Beef Production
Position: Tenure track, nine month appointment beginning Fall Semester, September, 2015. Opportunity for summer employment available. Location: Darr School of Agriculture, Missouri State University, Springfield, MO 65897.

Description: Primary responsibility will be teaching undergraduate courses in beef production and other areas of animal science dependent upon training, experience and departmental needs. The candidate should possess the ability and the desire to develop a comprehensive teaching and research program in applied beef cattle production. Successful candidate must develop a strong relationship with the local agricultural industry. Scholarly activity resulting in peer reviewed publications and presentations and supervision of master’s level graduate students will be required for tenure. Additional duties include academic advisement of undergraduate students, service on departmental and university committees and advisement of student organizations. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary School of Agriculture is expected. Requirements: PhD in Animal Science, demonstration of active involvement in the beef Industry in a non-academic setting. Experience in teaching preferred. Programs: Missouri State University’s Darr School of Agriculture provides excellent education degrees in the following units via an engaged teaching and research faculty and staff team: Plant Science, Natural Resources, and Wildlife Conservation; Animal Science; Agricultural Business, Education, and Communications. Facilities: The Darr School of Agriculture excellent facilities that include: Karls Hall located on campus with modern lecture halls, laboratories and offices; The Darr Agricultural Center with the Pinegar Arena and the Bond Learning Center facilities; The Woodlands is a 157 acre native hardwood teaching/research facility within 30 minutes of campus; The Shealy Farm , 250 acre forages and timber with a Conference Center; The Journagan Ranch , 3200 acre, 1000 beef animal (500 purebred Hereford herd) learning center; and the State Fruit Experiment Station, 190 acre 100 year old station with special emphasis on grape genetics and breeding, as well as viticulture and enology.
