    Associate Director, New Student Programs

    Heralded as a hub of undergraduate innovation, the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) creates and sustains meaningful interactions between students and faculty both within and outside the classroom. As a team member of VPUE, you have a unique opportunity to advance and support programs that touch and enhance the lives of every undergraduate student at Stanford.

    VPUE is seeking an Associate Director of New Student Programs within the office of Undergraduate Advising and Research (UAR). The Associate Director has primary responsibility for project management of New Student Orientation (NSO), the university’s program that welcomes and orients all new undergraduate students to Stanford, as well as other high-visibility, large-scale programs throughout the academic year. NSO is one of Stanford’s “Big 5” events, with a budget of over $1 million, and this position provides the logistical oversight of over 200 events and collaboration with campus partners as well as overall program assessment. Responsibilities include direct supervision of 6 student employees, as well as management of over 500 volunteers during the week of NSO. Reporting to the Associate Dean for New Student Programs, this position serves as a content expert in orientation, transition, and class-identity programming as well as a leader in developing community and a sense of belonging among new students. 

    To be successful in this position:

    • Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience
    • Advanced communication, customer service and computer skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Understanding of financial transactions
    • Ability and interest in working with a diverse student body
    • Hands-on approach to project management
    • Ability to ensure compliance with legal, financial, and university policies
