Northwest Missouri State University is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Applied Health Science (Kinesiology) in the School of Health Science & Wellness. This position begins in August 2026 and is based on the Maryville, Missouri campus.

The successful candidate will teach courses primarily in Biomechanics and Mechanical Analysis of Sports Skills while also contributing to areas such as:
- Physiology of Exercise
- Socio-Psychological Aspects of Human Performance
- Evidence-Based Practice in Health Science
- Exercise Testing and Prescription
- Sport and Exercise Nutrition
- Sport and Exercise Psychology
- Health and Wellness
- Strength and Conditioning
This role also involves mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, supervising research projects, and supporting the BS in Applied Health Sciences program, which serves over 160 majors.
Responsibilities
Faculty in this role will:
- Teach: 24–26 credit hours per academic year (4 courses in fall, 4 in spring). Summer teaching may be available with additional compensation.
- Advise & Mentor: Support students in undergraduate research, honors theses, and internships.
- Service: Contribute to student recruitment, advisement, retention, and serve on departmental and university committees.
- Research: Maintain active scholarly and creative activity through publications, conferences, and collaborations.
- Lab Supervision: Oversee lab activities using advanced technology (InBody, DARImotion, DXA, metabolic testing, force platform, Dyanvision D2, VALD).
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health, or related area (ABD considered).
- Certifications: Preferred but not required (CSCS, ACSM, ACE, ATC, CHES, etc.).
- Experience: Successful teaching experience in kinesiology, exercise science, or health-related fields.
