Position Overview
The Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) provides strategic leadership and direct supervision for CEBS, reporting to the Provost. The Dean works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, students, alumni, and community partners to achieve the strategic goals of the university and college. In line with Faculty Handbook policy, this position carries faculty status.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for CEBS academic programs, faculty, and staff.
- Drive innovation in new and existing programs and teaching modalities.
- Ensure continuous improvements in teaching, learning outcomes, and student assessment.
- Pursue partnerships, fundraising, and alumni engagement to support CEBS growth.
- Oversee budgets, resources, and facilities planning with sound fiscal management.
- Appoint department chairs (with Provost/VPAA consent) and support faculty development.
- Represent CEBS in university-wide initiatives, community partnerships, and strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Participate in university events including commencement and community engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent academic credentials suitable for faculty rank of at least Associate Professor.
- Minimum of 3 years of higher education administrative experience (or comparable experience).
- Proven record of teaching, scholarship/professional development, and service.
- Strong leadership, communication, and fiscal management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Understanding of the context of higher education, ideally within a Christian university.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience with e-learning tools and academic technology platforms.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and data-informed decision-making.
- Endorsement of Eastern University’s Doctrinal Statement and support for its mission.
- Valid driver’s license and schedule flexibility (including evenings/weekends).
